Boot Related Reading

A few weeks back I started a new blog which connects very readily with this blog. It feature articles and stories which have the Boot connection. Now of course, there may be some of you may not be looking at this blog because you wish to read, perhaps some of you just prefer to oogle the pictures? However don't dismiss the Boot Reading Blog just yet, as you may find some of the reading quite interesting. No, there arent many pictures at present, however I am gradually adding items that are a fascinating insight into the history of boot fetishism. From London Life and Bizarre, to interviews with Paula Klaw, and articles written by Bottier and Achilles. Also letters written by genuine high heel and boot wearers, to those who wear corsets and boots, and stories from the past. I have a desire to make sure some of these fascinating pieces of boot history don't disappear from view, so keep reading..and I hope you'll keep the comments on all my blogs coming!!

Colours

Like many out there with a fetish for boots, when I was running my website Latexsubbies, I collected a selection of boots. The aim had been to use the boots for photoshoots, perhaps keep some and sell some. I got to thinking though, how obvious it is that many sites out there just can't get past white, red or black boots. I'm not sure if that's because folks don't have the imagination or courage to order a pair in yellow and black..or perhaps it could be they don't think folks looking at the pictures would like it. Either that or perhaps they feel that they can't find outfits to match. Something I find hard to believe, but it could be the answer. I'd personally like to see websites out there getting colourful with their boots. How about you?

Corset Connections

Over time as we collect images that appear on the net, as shown with the images displayed here, you find connections constantly appearing. The wearing of boots, was born purely out of need, as discussed earlier in the blog, when I talked about how boots actually came to be. They became a fashion item much later than they originated. Another item of clothing which has great similarity to boots, is of course the Corset. Initially worn for the improvement of posture, this item of clothing has become again a fashion item, but is almost inextricably linked with boots nowadays. However although some pictures contain images of thigh high boots worn with corsets, as was pointed out to me by a lifetime corset wearer, many corset wearers have a fetish for wearing stockings and suspenders, and so although corset wearers do like boots, they will often only wear knee highs, as it detracts from the image they are trying to attain. The corset seems to be a natural accompaniment to boots. The confinement of the body and the confinement of the legs, seems to accentuate the features and makes someone sexier. When we consider these two components to me drawn images from Bizarre and people like Corset Cora come to mind. Who can deny that corsets and boots are a perfect match.

Marc and Brigitte

Some time ago I became friends with a couple from France, called Marc and Brigitte, who like myself enjoy wearing Latex and most things shiny. At the time they had a free website which seemed be growing in popularity, which mostly showed them out and about enjoying wearing the finer things in life. However after a few problems with servers they decided to take control of their material back and started again with a paysite. Since then their site has gone from strength to strength. What sets their website apart from many on the web, was that in many respects, Marc and Brigitte, followed similar lines to us. By that I mean, they posted genuine pictures, not staged nonsense, and personally I love the pictures of Brigitte who has the most stunning hair. Brigitte is often dressed in latex and gorgeous boots, which I'm sure will delight the boot fetishist in you, and Marc's pictures of Brigitte have become some of the most beautiful I have seen. I thoroughly recommend you join. Huge galleries with some stunning pictures, and plenty of interesting videos, what more could anyone ask for? I hope the cheques in the post ! *s*

Boot Reading Blog

You've probably noticed as time has gone on, I have been trying to expand the blog into various other related items.

An obvious omission is boot related stories and articles that have graced publications over the years.

So I am in the process of correcting this and have opened another blog connected to this, called 'Boot Reading'.

As time permits I will add items I think you may like, plus where to find them if you wish to read more. I hope you enjoy the new blog as much as this one. Please bear with me on the new additions as I get the foundations of each blog sorted.

I have just added the first except to the blog. I hope you find it interesting.

Hall Of Fame

I've just started up another couple of blogs. The first of which is one entitled the 'Boot Hall of Fame'. This is going to feature those famous names from the world of bootmaking and publications that have had a major influence on the way boots have become so iconic since the turn of the 20th Century. If you feel someone or something truly deserves to be in this select Boot Hall of Fame..why not email me. I aim to add one name each month although that is flexible. So get you nominations in now ! Here are just a few suggestions for who might qualify for this accolade.. Importance of Being Regent

Some time back I got to talking on the blog about events in the past, and mentioned a store in Wardour Street in London, which made the most amazing Boots and Shoes.
Regent Shoe Stores originally got mentioned when I featured Spyros Cypriana, who worked for them back in the 1950's (see previous blog entry).
However Regent is far more important in the scheme of Boot History than many realise.
I am constantly researching, to try and find out more about the origins of such innovators, but Regent played a big part in the life of Bottier, who you will remember, was a regular contributor to London Life and Bizarre. Mr Stein who ran the store in those days played Cupid too. Not only did his store make amazing footwear, but he also acted as a modern day dating agency, by introducing like minded fetishists to each other. Those with a love of exotique heels and boots, let alone corsetry. As his customers were drawn to his amazing store like magnets, why not help these people find love in their passions too? Not only that, but his clients formed a regular pattern of meeting, where dressing for mutual pleasure and admiration of their beautiful new creations, gained pace. Meetings, which in reality continued until 1986, as far as I can assertain from one of the participants, who will remain anonymous. This gentleman has been invaluable in helping me piece together many facts regarding not only Bottier, and some of the previously hidden facts relating to other famous names such as Berger.
In the meantime though, I've added some pictures taken from the Regent Catalogue, but note the open pages from an issue of London Life dated 1941. You'll see the advert placed by Regent in the bottom right corner.
A fascinating glimpse into the past or what? While war raged around the world, pervy shoes and boots were flourishing! Does that say something more about society itself?
